From the President's Desk

The closing of the Wisconsin Rapids paper mill has created a shift in roundwood supply to the Escanaba and Quinnesec Verso mills. When a consuming mill the size of WI Rapids leaves the market, the radius of available timber supply changes for remaining mills. When consumers of any product can make purchases lowering their cost of business, it only makes sense that they do so. Changes or shifts like this do have an impact on GLTPA members from the various regions.

As reported two or three months ago, many consumers talk about sustainability and according to marketing research, very few, if any, have a clear understanding of what sustainability is.

Obituary for Richard Keith Krawze Sr. Richard Keith “Dick” Krawze Sr., age 79, of Laona, WI passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020. Dick was born in Laona on January 22nd, 1941, the son of the late Chester and Ardis (Kielman) Krawze. Dick graduated from Laona High School in 1959. On December 30th, 1961, he married Susan “Sue” Novak at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Laona.
